Sogno di San Giuseppe. Natività di Cristo. Fuga in Egitto
Date Birth/Death
(Cotignola ca. 1481-Napoli o Roma 1540 ca.)
Between 1523 and 1525 Sebastiano Serlio was in a documented relationship with Girolamo Marchesi. This is but one clue in addition to the observation of types of choices that are similar to those that Serlio theorised in his Trattato di architettura published between 1537 and 1551. The rendering of the architecture is also more accurate than that of the figures: hence the recent hypothesis that he was the author of this predella, which was previously attributed to Marchesi.
