USE OF IMAGES OF WORKS AND REPRODUCTIONS

According to current legislation, the reproduction of images of cultural assets, legitimately acquired, for activities carried out on a not-for-profit basis, for purposes of study, research, free expression of thought, creative expression, and promotion of knowledge of the cultural heritage, is free. It is also free to circulate them by any means, so that they cannot be further reproduced for profit, not even indirectly.

Visitors who take photos and videos on the sites belonging to the National Museums of Bologna are obliged to follow procedures that do not involve any physical contact with the property, nor the exposure of the works to light sources, nor the use of stands or tripods.

For all other cases, particularly regarding reproductions in editorial publications, the use of images for commercial purposes, or the direct professional reproduction of works, the payment of a fee may be required pursuant to Art. 108 of Legislative Decree 42/2004, as specified in the regulations and the corresponding price list:
