Santa Cecilia all’organo
Date Birth/Death
(Bologna 1629-1700)
Saint Cecilia, seated at the organ, gracefully brings her right hand to the keys of the musical instrument while looking up to heaven. Pasinelli, a careful observer of tradition, uses iconographic models by Ludovico Carracci and Guido Reni, reworked with a graceful and personal elegance. This hallmark of the artist was handed down to his most famous pupils, Giovan Gioseffo Dal Sole and Donato Creti. The predilection for Venetian painting emerges in the fluid and dense brushstrokes.
