Pace: La Resurrezione
Date Birth/Death
Bologna, 1447 circa – 1517
These embossed and niello worked silver ornaments are liturgical objects generally used during formal wedding ceremonies to bring "peace'" expressed by the kiss before communion. On the basis of the coats-of-arms depicted, they have been respectively connected to the wedding between Ginevra Sforza and Giovanni II Bentivoglio (1464), and between Bartolomeo Felicini and Dorotea Ringhieri (1481), although stylistic elements suggest a dating for the Crucifixion to the 1480s and for the Resurrection to the end of the 15th century.
