This work is an important testimonial, as it is the only one known to date signed and dated by Pelosio. The figures are arranged in a tripartite scheme, with the carved frame simulating a floral festoon. The choice of the gold background, an allusion to the divine realm, is rather archaic, reflecting the artist’s late Gothic sensibility. This can also be discerned in the way the hair and garments are graphically depicted and in the pathos of the expressions.
