Both panels were part of the frame of the Sacred Conversation by Bagnacavallo junior [19.1], placed on the altar of the inner church of Santi Naborre e Felice. It must have been a decidedly ambitious project, of which evidence has been handed down from the sources. The cursive execution of the figures, especially the cupids, does not allow for a definite attribution of the two panels to Tibaldi, even though the Sibyls, emerging from the dark and cramped space of the niche, adeptly suggest the monumental plasticity of forms typical of the Lombard artist.
