Autumn offers Franceschini's humanity an opportunity to work, but similar to the leisure moments of Spring and Summer, the serenity remains unchanged and there is no hint of fatigue. On the left in the foreground, women, men and children are all engaged in the various stages of the grape harvest, from picking to crushing the grapes. On the right two children are fighting over a pile of apples while behind them, in the background, a man is pulling an ox cart.
