Once a month there are in-depth talks in English on the Pinacoteca’s masterpieces: the initiative, called MEETING ART, does not require booking. All activities are included in the cost of the museum entrance ticket (except for those free of charge by law).

In the meeting of March we’ll discover the evolution of portraits in Bologna between the 16th and 18th century. From Lavinia Fontana’s famous Famiglia Gozzadini we’ll move on to Ludovico Carracci’s more intimate and informal composition, in which the painter portrays his sister’s family. Guido Reni paints his mother, and the face of the great Bolognese artist is captured, in turn, by his pupil Simone Cantarini. Finally, during the 18th century, Giuseppe Maria Crespi replaced the official celebratory models with the casual poses of the figures, united in spontaneous affection and gazes.
