Descrizione opera
The Virgin, saints and two patrons are in adoration of the Infant Jesus. The scene takes place outdoors, in front of an altar, bizarrely invaded by putti, on which the Marriage and Coronation of Mary are depicted, episodes that highlight the importance of the Marian theme. In the cartouche at the bottom centre, Aspertini adds the term “Tirocinium” to his name, alluding to his many learning experiences and travels, both in his youth and early maturity, which are poured out here.
