Arranged in a circle in a setting of monumental proportions, the characters in this sacred conversation display a classicism that combines naturalness and idealisation, aspects that seem to anticipate the change that was to influence painting in the climate of the Counter-Reformation. From an early uncertain attribution, the painting can instead be considered to be definitely the work of Bagnacavallo Junior thanks to the reappearance of the signature on the base of the column on the left, brought to light after restoration.
