Sacra Famiglia con i Santi Bernardo Tolomei (?), Paolo e Maddalena

The painting is based on Raphaelesque prototypes, including the Small Holy Family in the Louvre Museum, progressively modified by Ramenghi with anecdotal touches and naturalistic additions: in the background, in a landscape brimming with atmosphere, Joseph is intent on rough-hewing a piece of wood, while an angel appears between the clouds to two adoring female figures. The true brilliance and importance of this fine painting, unfortunately damaged over time, can be seen in details such as the face of Saint Paul or the ampoule of Magdalene.
