Descrizione opera

The name of the unknown artist derives from an inscription that can be read on another of his works, which mentions a certain Ambrogio Saraceno as the client. The painting, done in tempera, depicts Saint Apollonia with the attributes of the martyrdom she suffered in Alexandria. Behind her, an ornamental drape partially conceals the opening onto a village background. The whole work is enclosed by a frame with candelabra motifs and enriched with historiated paintings.
