There is no information on the provenance of this fragment of a fresco in which Aspertini condenses a highly refined workmanship and descriptive detail: note the subtle brushstrokes that define the carpet, the bookmark, the sleeve with the button of the sleeping Saint Joseph. The three figures are distributed in a complex and dynamic intertwining, evidence of progress in the artist’s spatial research, similar to the style of the altarpiece in the church of San Martino.
